You are invited to use the slow and deeply human process of visible mending as an opportunity to connect and build community. Visible mending is the art of taking a torn or stained item of clothing and not just fixing it, but adding design.
Fee for service: Bring me your stained or torn items and let me repair them - visibly. I’m offering a visible mending service.Items I’ll repair with a patch or darning: stuffed animals, denim or pants knee, denim or pants seat, shirts, sweaters, maybe other things! If you’re not sure, ask!
I anticipate most items being ready in a couple weeks, depending on how busy I am.
Free workshop: Join a very casual mending circle to learn how to visibly mend your clothes by yourself. All materials for patching and sewing provided.
If you don’t have any stained or damaged items you need me to repair, stop by to share how you do -or would- incorporate physical mending and repair in your lifestyle.
Pricing

ARTIST BIO

Local teacher and artist Josie Malone is proud to present her first pop-up shop. Josie’s art explores the subversive capacities of a traditionally feminine craft. It isn’t delicate, it’s defiant. Capitalism tells us that new is better, but each of her repairs is a loud, deliberate and unapologetically messy no-thank-you flag. Saving textiles from the landfill is a labor of love and an act of quiet rebellion against a culture that equates worth with newness. Let’s rip some seams and stitch something beautiful.
