Improv Level 2 focuses on creating rich, dynamic characters and exploring the emotional core of your scenes through relationships. You’ll learn how to make bold character choices, tap into authentic emotions, and use those tools to build strong onstage relationships that move the scene forward.

Through exercises in status, relationship dynamics, and emotional reactions, you’ll develop scenes that resonate and connect with your audience. Discover how character-driven choices and emotional storytelling form the foundation of unforgettable performances.

STUDENT SHOWCASE
This course will culminate in a student showcase the evening of Sep 6.

PREREQUISITES
Improv Level 1 (or equivalent experience)

SUPPLIES NEEDED
Comfortable shoes and clothes that you can move around in. We also recommend bringing a light sweater in case you get cold, and a water bottle.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

 


Sean McEwan is a writer, filmmaker, and improvisor based in Chapel Hill, NC. He has been studying sketch and improv since 2013, first with the Dallas Comedy House in Dallas, TX, and later with Second City and UCB. He has been teaching comedy for over a decade, and has led comedy workshops at companies such as Pixar.

Sean has performed in a variety of places, including Dallas, Toronto, New York, and Durham. His film work ranges from Pixar, Marvel, and Disney, to projects directed by Guillermo del Toro, Aaron Sorkin, and more. In 2015 he played the lead role of Elliot Stabler in the sketch show "Law & Order: The SVUsical". He recently wrote and produced the sketch shows "Romance is Dead" at "Was It Something I Said?", and regularly performs with his improv teams "Final Cut" and "Without A Clue: An Improvised Murder Mystery."
