Step into the exciting world of long-form improv comedy with Improv Level 1, the starting point of our multi-level program designed to take you from curious beginner to stage-ready performer!
During this 7-week course, you’ll jump into action from day one, exploring fundamentals through hands-on experience and guided examples. You’ll learn the importance of collaboration and discover that with trust and support, you’re never alone on stage. Through fun exercises and group games, you’ll learn to create characters and build worlds together. This course is all about letting go and having fun in a supportive, encouraging environment.
Whether you’re looking to explore something new or dreaming of the spotlight, this is where it all begins.

This course will culminate in a student showcase the evening of Sep 6.
SUPPLIES NEEDED
Comfortable shoes and clothes that you can move around in. We also recommend bringing a light sweater in case you get cold, and a water bottle.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Sean McEwan is a writer, filmmaker, and improvisor based in Chapel Hill, NC. He has been studying sketch and improv since 2013, first with the Dallas Comedy House in Dallas, TX, and later with Second City and UCB. He has been teaching comedy for over a decade, and has led comedy workshops at companies such as Pixar.
Sean has performed in a variety of places, including Dallas, Toronto, New York, and Durham. His film work ranges from Pixar, Marvel, and Disney, to projects directed by Guillermo del Toro, Aaron Sorkin, and more. In 2015 he played the lead role of Elliot Stabler in the sketch show "Law & Order: The SVUsical". He recently wrote and produced the sketch shows "Romance is Dead" at "Was It Something I Said?", and regularly performs with his improv teams "Final Cut" and "Without A Clue: An Improvised Murder Mystery."
