Shot Cotton is typically a woven cotton fabric with a two tone effect created by using two different colors for the warp and the weft fibers. It is known for it excellent drape, luster and nubby texture - with minor bumps and ridges visible on the material’s tactile surface. This gives them a unique appearance when viewed from various angles. Though its threads are two different colors, a finished shot fabric appears as a solid third color with subtle depth.

In this quilt the relationship of the yellow rectangles is based on the Golden Ratio in the Fibonacci Sequence.

Depending on which of the sides is facing up as well as where the light source is, the lustrous color of yellow changes.
