Artist Statement

Color and curves have long been at the core of my work.  Both are remarkably expressive.

Color can be vibrant and full of energy or soft and soothing.  Curves suggest motion, yet also bring balance and grace. Together they continue to inspire me.

As a quiltmaker, I am fascinated by the way color and shape interact.  An arc can guide the eye across a surface.  A carefully chosen palette can change the mood of a piece.  I enjoy exploring the way these relationships can elicit emotions and invite closer attention.

Some of the quilts in this show are inspired by flowers, leaves and other natural forms; others by colors that seem to belong together.  Curves introduce movement and life. Combined with color they encourage the eye to wander and discover.

I hope these quilts offer viewers a sense of joy similar to that which I experience while creating them.
