Class size: minimum 4, maximum 10 participants

In this hand embroidery workshop, we’ll build a community around learning a new skill: the chain stitch. We’ll cover the basics and give participants the chance to get started with embroidering a project. This workshop is appropriate for beginners or people who have a little experience. No prior sewing experience is required  all materials will be provided.

In the spirit of creative reuse, this workshop gives participants an opportunity to bring their own items to embroider. Some examples include, but are not limited to: button down shirts, sweatshirts, children’s clothes, tote bags, or other flat woven cloth items.

This workshop creates an opportunity bring people together to connect and leave with a work in progress. The  chain stitch is a versatile beginner stitch that works great for letters, images, or icons.

ARTIST BIO

Josie Malone is an experienced high school English and Reading teacher in Carrboro.  She learned embroidery as a child and picked it back up again during the pandemic as a portable  creative  hobby. She creates unique handmade custom items in her small shop and is excited to bring this skill to the community through classes.

This class is limited to 10 students. Cancellations by My Muses Card Shop will receive a full refund. Cancellations made 1 weeks or more before the event may receive a full refund. Cancellations made up to 3 days before the event can receive a 50% refund. No refund or exchanges for cancellations less than 3 days before the day of the class.
