Add a little surprise and connection to your Thanksgiving table with handmade puzzle-purse place cards. In this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop, participants will learn how to fold traditional Victorian-inspired puzzle purses and transform them into charming place cards for Thanksgiving dinner. Each participant will create a coordinated hostess set of 3–4 place cards using beautiful colored cardstock. Inside each folded place card, guests can discover a simple gratitude or conversation prompt to open and share around the table. Participants may choose from provided prompts or leave space to add a personal message at home before Thanksgiving. No complicated decorating or lettering is required, the beauty is in the paper, the fold, and the thoughtful little experience waiting inside.Participants will leave with a finished set ready to personalize and use at their Thanksgiving table. This class is perfect for adults who enjoy paper crafts, entertaining, or adding thoughtful handmade details to gatherings. No previous paper-folding, lettering, or art experience is required. Beginners are absolutely welcome.

What Should Participants Bring?

Nothing! All materials needed to create the project will be provided, including cardstock, instructions, practice paper, and a selection of gratitude and conversation prompts. Participants are welcome to come with the names of 3–4 Thanksgiving guests in mind if they would like to prepare their place cards for specific people during class.

Artist Bio :

Sonia J. Pal is an artist, calligrapher, surface designer, and educator, and the founder of North Carolina–based creative studio ASquareWatermelon®. Her work moves between lettering, pattern design,fine art, historical craft, and hands-on creative experiences. As an instructor, Sonia is known for breaking techniques into approachable steps while giving students enough structure to understand what they are doing— and enough freedom to make the work their own. She has taught through museums, libraries, creative organizations, and community spaces, creating welcoming workshops for adults who simply want to learn, make, and enjoy the process.

Cancellations made up to 3 days before the event can receive a 50% refund. No refund or exchanges for cancellations less than 3 days before the day of the class.
