Description of class
This is a fun, welcoming, and engaging introduction to multiple styles of journaling designed for all ages and experience levels. Each session will provide participants with hands-on guidance, creative prompts, and time to explore a new journaling style in a relaxed, supportive environment. Participants will be encouraged to experiment with materials, layouts, and storytelling in ways that feel authentic to them. Whether you are completely new to journaling or looking to expand your creative practice, this class is intended to inspire self-expression, creativity, and confidence. Above all, the goal is to create a comfortable space where people can slow down, connect, and enjoy the creative process.
About me
Mercer Highsmith is a sophomore in high school and attends Carolina Friends School in Durham. She has grown up in Carborro and is very familiar with the charismatic town. Mercer started journaling in 2020 as a way to cope with the pandemic, and it had been an outlet for stress ever since. Journaling has become an important part of both her artistic practice and daily life. Outside of art, she enjoys playing tennis and basketball, reading, mountain biking, and being in nature. She would love to share the joy that is accompanied by self-expression and creativity.
