In a world of constant digital stimulation, Building Stories in the Gallery is a 2-hour facilitated experience, creating a space where adults rediscover their creativity and the uniqueness of each other’s imaginations. 

Participants work individually, in small groups, and as a full group to build stories together, gently guided throughout by Frederique, the creator of the wooden Fellows. 

Each participant takes home a “Pouille”, a small hand-turned wooden character who loves being part of stories so they can extend their experience beyond the workshop.

No experience needed. 

Artist Bio

Frédérique Yova, PhD, is a French-American artist, early childhood educator, and researcher, and the founder of Giggles and Chisels, LLC. She created and woodcarved the wooden Fellows, small table puppets, to guide people of all ages to slow down, reconnect with their inner child, and unleash their imagination in a gentle, and reassuring way.

She believes it is never too late to be a child for a moment, opening the door to being curious, brave and creative. She brings this belief to life through her weekly Carrboro radio show, Building Stories on Air, on WCOM 103.5, and through workshops for adults, families, and communities across the Carrboro / Chapel Hill area. Building Stories in the Gallery is one of these workshops, bringing that same spirit of playfulness and ingenuity to this space.
